He is different in that he is an enthusiast in travel photography majoring in safaris and hikes, his name is KINOTI . Here is what he had to say about himself.
Who is kinoti?
Kinoti is a passionate ,24 year old photographer based in Nairobi and it’s environs.who enjoys documenting images as a save button for the eye.
How did you end up in photography?
A friend of mine (vintexLens) introduced me to photography first as a hobby .I would borrow his camera and practice taking images with it .The more I learnt, the more interesting it became.I also learnt a lot from YouTube tutorials. One day( June 2018) Vintex Lens had a client and had some other work commitments I had to take charge and earned my first gig!
Who do you look up to in the photography world?
I look up to many photographers among them Peter Mckinnon,Mutua Matheka and Osborne Macharia
What drives you as a photographer?
Am driven by the Passion to get the best images for my clients on both set and post. Giving them the best image quality guarantee referrals and more work in the future.
Do you feel like photography can be a full time job and why?
Photography is a full time job for many togs out here.Take for example Ben Kuruthi and Mutua Matheka who quit their engineering and architectural jobs respectively to pursue photography full time. Photography has really come a long way in the decade and clients are really willing to pay anything to have their images or gigs well documented.
Best and worst gig as a photographer?
I have really enjoyed shooting professionally over the last two years;my best gig would be shooting in the Aberdares ranges while hiking there (shout out to Keitain Safaris for making it happen).I don’t have a specific worst gig but I hate it when a client will not pay a photographer in time.
Advice to any upcoming photographer?
Continue grinding togs. The best image is the one you will take tomorrow!
Your experience in working with House of legacy?
I have had the best experience working with HOL in the rail shoot project .The crew of makeup artist , stylists, creative directors and photographer assistant came in handy .The shoot was well arranged.I wouldn’t mind working with HOL in the future for even bigger projects.
Am inspired by many quotes but this one by Eve Arnold is the one I like most “If the photographer is interested in the people in front of his lens, and if he is compassionate, it’s already a lot. The instrument is not the camera but the photographer.”
